"Being and Giving Family in the World"

Azione Famiglie Nuove (AFN) is an international nonprofit organization that is also active in Italy. Founded in 1998, it is now a Third Sector Entity (ETS) registered with the RUNTS. We work to promote the free and integral development of every person, community, and people, starting with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged around the world. Since 2005, we have been an authorized body for international adoptions by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Italy.

MISSION AND VALUES

We support the family, which for us represents the place where human relationships can flourish according to the principles of hospitality, reciprocity, gratuitousness, solidarity and dignity of the person.

With the commitment we carry out every day in Italy and in 46 countries around the world, we concretely support children living in conditions of vulnerability and poverty and their families.

With international adoptions, we give a family to abandoned and lonely children. With networking, we carry out socio-economic support interventions, social projects and training activities, and promote civic engagement for sustainable development with a human face.

TRANSPARENCY

We believe in the value of transparency. We work with strategies to ensure the measurability of results by clearly and simply communicating the tangible impact of our interventions.

Each year we publish our Annual Report online so that it can be freely consulted by our Benefactors, and anyone interested, as a tool to reflect on our goals, stimulate us to grow and engage in dialogue.

ORGANIZATION

AFN has a system of governance and control based on the following bodies: Shareholders’ Meeting, Board of Directors, Board of Statutory Auditors and Auditor, each with different functions and responsibilities.

The Assembly is the body that defines the operational guidelines of the Corporation.

The Board of Directors looks after the ordinary and extraordinary management of the Association in accordance with the strategic and operational guidelines resolved by the Members’ Meeting.

A HISTORY OF ACTION

Our history is rooted in the New Families Movement, an emanation of the Focolare Movement. We were founded in 1998 but our action began in the late 1970s.

Throughout these years we have carried out cooperative interventions and projects, dedicated to children, families and their communities of reference and we have grown together with them.

There is a multiplicity of vital worlds with which we build relationships of fundamental value to effectively and sustainably realize our goals. New Families Action’s network of partners is made up of many realities: Associations, religious movements, institutions, companies, foundations, university institutes, third sector entities. But our strength lies in our local partners, present and active in more than 43 countries around the world.
